Katy Perry is a total fashion chameleon, so her ever-changing wardrobe ways rarely surprise us. But the singer’s latest style bender — this whole “reverting back to a schoolgirl” thing — seems to be sticking around, which means it’s time to discuss it.
On Thursday night, Perry paraded around the set of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in a pleated leather skirt, black knee socks and a short-sleeve House of Holland shirt with a screen print of the Virgin Mary on it. (We’re not sure how holy the hem on that skirt is.) She completed the look with schoolgirl-appropriate pigtails.

And this wasn’t the star’s first run (get it?) going out in those stockings. Her first outing with the over-the-knee nylons came last month, when she wore a red-and-black plaid Alice + Olivia outfit (that had definite school uniform vibes) and tightly-woven crown plait for an event promoting her new fragrance. And when we checked back then, most of you weren’t fans of the schoolgirl-inspired stocking look.
But that hasn’t stopped her from rocking them all over the globe. She’s even taken the look to the street, in a more “high school junior off the clock” ’90s way with a floral print dress and a pair of Doc Martens. If anyone can make knee-length nylons work, it’s Perry, but we’re wondering if even she can’t make this trend happen despite her sheer force of will.
Do you like Perry’s latest style choices or should she ditch the knee socks?
