Why do we love featuring guest contributors in our weekly roundup? Because they bring unique purchases to the mix. And Robert Verdi’s recent buy certainly doesn’t disappoint. Plus, see the under-$20 pants one editor just nabbed, the scarf we fell in love with and the jewelry debate that needs your vote!

Brittany Talarico, Associate Editor: I know what you’re all thinking. A pair of high-waisted floral harem pants sound like something out of the wardrobe archives from Clarissa Explains It All. But hear me out, before you pass judgement.
These Forever 21 bottoms look great with a black tank, blazer and pumps during the week or a white tee, leather jacket and moto boots on the weekend. Yes, they are on the trendy side. But with a price tag of $17.80, I won’t be heartbroken if the style is out next year.

Robert Verdi, TV personality and style expert: In NYC nothing beats having a car and driver, or a unicycle… But I’ve found the next best thing: The Jetson Electric Bike! And it’s the coolest thing I have ever bought!
It costs the same as a pair of Rick Owens sneakers, but I don’t have to walk. The bike comes in 15 colors, one to match everyone of my outfits. If my apartment weren’t so small, I would buy them all.
I fell in love with this bike, because I don’t need any special license to operate it, it reduces my carbon footprint, and it makes me look like the Fonz. Plus, I don’t have to pedal so I arrive on time and wrinkle free.

Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: There are two things I really love in this world: Champagne and shopping. So when I saw both of those words (plus the phrase “luxury wing”) in the invitation to a Friday night event for the “relaunch” of Santa Clara, Calif.’s Westfield Valley Fair mall, I couldn’t RSVP fast enough. My friend Gwennie and I found ourselves en route to an evening of people watching, ogling designer handbags and checking out Emmy-winning costumes — Veuve in hand the whole time.
Well, as it turns out, my two favorite things should not mix, because I end up whipping out my credit card a smidge more than is prudent. My best ill-advised purchase from the evening? This cool print scarf from J.Crew, which was an additional 40% off and is perfect for San Francisco’s breezy weather. And it inspired Gwennie to get one too, which meant we were toasting to our friendship scarves all evening. Hey, at least we knew ourselves well enough to steer clear of Cartier.

Zoë Ruderman, Senior Style Editor: As a fan of things both sparkly and affordable, I was psyched to find out about BaubleBar teaming up with Swarovski to offer a dozen pieces of golden jewelry made with the attention-grabbing crystals. Everything is under $75 with over half under $40. Now all that’s left to do is decide which item to order. I’m between the necklace, $68, and the double-finger ring, $36. (This is less of a “What We’re Buying” and more of a “What Should I Buy?”) Help me decide by voting in the poll below! And check out the other 10 pieces in the collection here:
